This senior level position is responsible for our data products ie. fire protection classes and any factors used to determine pricing in the future and the development, maintenance and ongoing support of all actuarial services for AAIS. Performs highly advanced actuarial work. Work involves directing actuarial functions; developing and implementing improved actuarial policies and procedures; providing actuarial advice and consultation. This position is externally facing with all of the AAIS publics.
Pricing: Develop pricing strategies and analysis, develop rating plans, provides support for loss cost/rule filings, DOI communication and negotiation, performs pricing analysis using licensed software, uses critical thinking in determining appropriate assumptions.
Assesses the impact of existing and proposed legislation or policies on AAIS programs with regard to actuarial matters.
Management: Supervises and directs the actuarial staff, mentors, coaches and develops their competencies
Knowledge: Rating plan development, predictive modeling software and techniques, multivariate and by-peril analysis, competitive analysis and project management; competitive product research
Leadership: Provide direction and influence the continued development of the actuarial function at AAIS; support the AAIS strategic plan; actively leads critical strategic projects involving data acquisition and fire protection classes;
Proven leadership ability with strong client relationship skills and experience managing and leading teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and public speaking skills
Experience in working with DOI’s for successfully file rating plans
10 plus years of experience in property/casualty insurance.
Experience using modeling software and concepts.
