Crum & Forster (C&F) is looking for an Actuarial Analyst to make an impact as a member of its Commercial Lines division. This division provides valuable risk protections to a diverse and growing portfolio of policyholders that includes contractors, retailers, lawyers, and not-for-profits. The new role will focus on research, development, and proofs of concept that have a data scientific orientation, and will also support routine and traditional ratemaking activities.
Develop, maintain, deliver, document, and monitor statistical models and related internal and external data sets.
Make insights accessible to internal (e.g. underwriters) and external (e.g. brokers) stakeholders verbally and visually.
Conduct routine pricing analyses (e.g. preparation and submission of rate and classification filings) periodically.
Automate and optimize processes using current technologies.
Work independently and collaboratively in an environment of dynamically evolving priorities.
College degree in quantitative discipline (e.g. actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics).
Internships, projects, or early career experience in insurance domain.
Graduate degree in quantitative discipline and strong record of performance on actuarial exams strongly preferred.
Ability to code from scratch using programming languages such as R, Python, and SAS.
Understanding and appreciation for nuance.
Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls.
