The Auto Club Group (ACG) provides membership, travel, insurance and financial services offerings to approximately 9 million members and customers across 11 states and 2 U.S. territories through the AAA, Meemic and Fremont brands. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Learns and begins to apply various actuarial techniques and procedures including:
Deterministic development of reserves, capital analysis, and models for current property/casualty insurance coverage and products
Analyzing and preparing summary reports
Formulating and interpreting reserve models using available tools
Analyzing data, developing material and preparing appropriate communication
Works with Information Technology in gathering and verifying data, and special projects. Manipulates data for actuarial review using standard software packages. Begins to apply actuarial methods and principles to develop reserve projections, complete projects, analyze results and make recommendations. Researches suitable trend indications for analysis. Prepares reports, proposals, system documents, narrative support, procedures, and documentation files. Provides support to projects as required.
Experience, Knowledge and/or Skills:
Programming software (i.e. SQL, SAS, R)
Statistical software tools and/or statistical modeling concepts to develop recommendations and draw conclusions
Insurance industry terminology and concepts
Personal lines P&C
Insurance and/or reinsurance accounting or financial analysis
Works in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics or a related field.
Successful completion of one or more actuarial examinations either prior to or within 18 months of date of hire.
Maintain eligibility in the Actuarial Professional Development Program following company guidelines.
Using advanced spreadsheet applications (i.e. EXCEL), including macros and formulas, as well as other software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office)
Performing research and statistical analyses to complete assignments
Analyzing technical studies and data and drawing sound conclusions
Knowledge and Skills:
Preparing and presenting material up to the director level
Managing workflow to achieve multiple goals
Working individually and as part of a team
Communicating effectively with others in a work environment.
