Main Function

As a member of a small, boutique team of actuaries, this diverse actuarial role functions not only as a company actuary for the three insurance programs sponsored by IHA but also as a consulting actuary providing services to hospitals, healthcare systems and other property & casualty programs that are clients of IRMS.

Outline of Responsibilities

• Communicate actuarial results, both written and verbal, to clients and boards
• Conduct actuarial analysis including
  • Reserve analyses
  • Rate and rating plan studies
  • Dividend recommendations
  • Capital adequacy studies
  • Financial forecasting
• Manage time to meet budgets for each project
• Other duties as defined

Qualifications

Must have obtained Associateship, or passed at least four exams towards Associateship, from the Casualty Actuarial Society or four exams of General Insurance from the Society of Actuaries.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required as is at least two years of experience in conducting actuarial studies, preferably in professional liability or workers’ compensation.  Proficiency in Excel and @Risk or another probabilistic simulation software solution.  The ideal candidate will have a naturally collaborative style and demonstrate attention to detail.  Routine travel (generally once a month) is required.
