We are currently searching for an experienced individual to serve as an Actuary III. The ideal candidate will perform duties involving complex actuarial studies to include analyzing loss reserves and driving ratemaking processes. A key component of this position is the proactive review and evaluation of pricing studies and industry rating techniques to determine applicability to the company’s products. The Actuary III is considered a technical expert and a leader.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Choosing actuarial selections of IBNR for use in ratemaking and as guidance for reserves carried by the company
• Designing reserve modeling tools for use in determining IBNR
• Overseeing quarterly rate indication reviews
• Providing technical guidance and expertise in the development of rate change proposals
• Completing complex pricing studies utilizing actuarial modeling techniques
• Developing improved pricing and reserving models utilizing advanced actuarial techniques
• Acting as technical expert for actuarial staff and provides training and guidance to members of the unit
• Reviewing and preparing business cases for tools, methods, vendors, and products that may add value to the company
• Handling special projects 
• Performing other functions assigned to the position to insure effective and smooth continuity of operations and transactions in the best interest of the company
• Maintaining a high level of technical expertise in mathematics, statistics, and actuarial procedures by attending applicable seminars or through other approved continuing education methods

Requirements

Qualifications and skills we are looking for include:

• College degree in actuarial science, mathematics or related field
• At least three years of P&C actuarial experience required to be considered
• Minimum ACAS 
• Excellent computer skills including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing 
• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and underwriting principles.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• High level of organizational and analytical skills with good attention to detail
