PRISM is seeking an experienced Risk Control Representative with a working knowledge of the school/education and general local municipality environment to join our team. This position provides a high level of customer service primarily to schools and related member entities. The Senior Specialist will act as a resource to staff and member entities. Providing technical information related to occupational safety, workers’ compensation and tort liability cost containment; and, risk management. This may include service plan development, stakeholder meetings, on-site safety/risk assessments, policy and program development, training program development and delivery and meeting presentations. Researches and develops best practices and model programs related to school and public agency exposures. Analyzes loss data and determines strategies to minimize a line of coverage or member entity exposure; and, formulates action plans that get positive results. The Senior Specialist will conduct special project research and analyses in order to provide resources for PRISM and/or member agencies. Ability and willingness to travel, up to 50% of available time, and some overnight stays are required.
Physical requirements of this position typically include: reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move.
PRISM strives to compensate its employees within very competitive salary ranges. The hiring salary range for this position is $6,661 - $8,160 per month. Salary adjustments are based on individual merit and accomplishments. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a directly related field or equivalent, and five years increasingly responsible work in directly related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, including but not limited to those listed below:
Knowledge and experience in the principles and methods of risk control, safety, risk management, and local government administration
Comprehensive experience in local and California environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance
Knowledge and experience of the principles and techniques of training
Analyzing, developing, and implementing policies/procedures
Problem identification, solution recommendation and implementation
High intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and good public relations with other employees, agencies, members and the public
Excellent presentation skills
Advanced educational training in fields related to risk control, occupational health and safety, business administration, or public administration is highly desirable. Progression toward one or more of the following certifications is also highly desirable: ARM, CSP, ASP or ALCM.
PRISM (previously CSAC Excess Insurance Authority) is a joint powers authority of California public entities, which was established in 1979 to provide insurance and risk management services to California’s counties.
