THE OPPORTUNITY

The Actuarial Analyst position will support the Actuarial Team by performing essential actuarial functions and serving as an analytics partner with Claims, Compliance, IT, and Underwriting.  Under general supervision of our actuary, this individual will bring technical expertise to ensure data quality and accuracy, interpret our data using various data analytical techniques, support the reserving process, assist with building predictive models, and present results to the business.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Manipulate, analyze, and interpret large data sets; identify patterns and trends; review KPI metrics.
• Responsible for completeness and accuracy of claims analysis including IBNR estimations and/or reserving analyses.
• Create new dashboards, tools, and reports for improved data consumption throughout the organization, while offering suggestions to simplify and streamline the existing tools and data acquisition.
• Develop ad hoc analyses from start to finish: conceptualization, data gathering, analysis, presentation, and monitoring.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) actuarial exams passed.
• Minimum of five (5) years Commercial line insurance experience.
• Experience in loss reserving is preferred.

WHO YOU ARE:

• Passionate about data and have a curious mind.
• Excellent communication and mathematical skills.
• Strong programming skills, including Microsoft Excel/Access, R, SQL, VBA or related.
• Experience with data visualization software (Power BI, QlikView, Tableau, or equivalent).
• Effective time management skills: Capability to balance multiple projects with competing deadlines, attention to detail and taking initiative on projects and assignments.
