Key Responsibilities:

• Works under general direction of the AVP or above
• Responsible for management of Team managers, individuals or business unit
• Manages and executes daily business objectives with reference to budget, customer service, production, and business plan objectives
• Has the ability to make decisions independent of Senior Management, but involves them when necessary
• Constantly seeks ways to improve business processes, workflow or operations
• Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and control work environment
• Responsible for direct  management of employees, which includes: hiring, discipline, coaching, evaluating performance, development, assigns tasks and sets objectives
• Is very collaborative and works well with others within the business unit and across the organization
• Manage profitability for assigned states through leading end to end rate change process from rate indication development, rate plan segmentation analysis, rate filing and subsequent DOI correspondence, and implementation for Personal and Commercial Lines
• Influence financial plan, rate indication methodology, and strategic pricing initiatives through thorough actuarial analysis and clear communication of results and assumptions
• Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external clients to heighten brand of actuarial team and to strengthen strategic partnerships
• Reviews work of Team Manager and Analysts and oversees the successful completion of projects within the required time frame
• Manages and trains Actuarial Team Manager and/or Analysts within the department
• Perform leadership functions through recruiting, recognizing employee’s achievements and development of staff through coaching and mentoring, providing feedback and guidance to staff relative to performance
• Review Reserving quarterly analyses of gross and net reserves for all lines of business
• Coordinate quarterly close activities with Accounting and Finance as needed
