Actuarial Analyst
Job Description
As the first incumbent to fill this role, we are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with solid business and actuarial acumen to join our team. The Actuarial Analyst will engage in all aspects of work performed by our Actuarial department. Duties will include compiling, organizing, and ensuring the accuracy of data; preparing and maintaining complex models, analyzing results, making recommendations, and implementing changes to our products and process; as well as acting as a resource for ratemaking, loss reserve studies, financial reporting, forecasting and other special projects as needed for company support and state DOI rate filings. The ability to lead and collaborate with team members company-wide, as well as with senior management, providing accurate information and feedback, is essential to the role. The candidate must have knowledge of actuarial modeling techniques. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Actuarial Services in our Glastonbury, CT home office.
Responsibilities
- Create, organize, and input data into actuarial models
- Conduct data analytics including Quarterly reserve analysis
- Develop management information reporting
- Complete statutory reporting and state rate level indications and filings
- Participate in corporate planning
- Present work including trend studies, rate monitoring, and ad hoc requests to business partners
- Design reinsurance strategies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
- 2 + years of Property and Casualty industry experience
- Efficient Casualty Actuarial Society exam progression
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of actuarial methods and analysis
- Proven analytic skills and attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to function independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Preferred, 2 + exams completed
Location
The Company currently follows a hybrid office/remote work schedule:
- Tuesday-Thursday – In office, Glastonbury, CT
- Monday and Friday – Option to work remotely (following completion of introductory period)
