The Actuarial Analyst will use analytical skills to resolve business problems and make recommendations to management. They will support senior management by providing analysis critical to the key functions of the business.

The role will include analysis in the areas of pricing, underwriting and reserving medical professional liability business, and will work closely with senior executives who will provide hands on guidance and training.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Portfolio Segmentation analysis – analysis/recommendations for refining the pricing and underwriting of our business within the existing pricing model and enhancing that model as appropriate
• Support for the analysis and estimation of loss and loss adjustment expense reserves and related balance sheet items
• Assist in the preparation of ad hoc reports and studies on topics relevant to the business of professional liability insurance
• Provide clear communication of technical work to technical and non-technical audiences
• Provide technical assistance and information to other departments
• Pursue actuarial examinations

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• BA in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and academic transcript that demonstrates commitment to a combination of mathematical or statistical and computational topics
• Entry level position, either direct from undergraduate program or with up to 3 years of experience
• Completion / passing of one actuarial exam and a commitment to achieving membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society
• Experience with Excel, Microsoft Access, R, and VBA
• Demonstrated ability to code using a primary programming language such as SQL, R, SAS and/or Python
• Excellent quantitative, math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
• Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
