Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) is pleased to offer a paid opportunity to work with our INVEST classroom to career education program team as a Virtual Community Relations Intern for the 2022/2023 school year. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the collaborative initiatives with key stakeholders including agents, carrier executives, college students and association staff across Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA). This internship will provide amble opportunity to build your social media and project management skills, while participating in strategic partnerships across the insurance industry.  The ideal candidate is an ambitious, organized, forward-thinking individual who is ultimately considering future opportunities in the insurance industry. The intern will report directly to the Executive Director of Invest and Diversity.

Responsibilities

• Help in creating a social media kit for industry professionals to use in promoting the Invest program and resources.
• Manage social media content and corresponding analytics for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
• Assist in the coordination of national meetings for Invest volunteer leads inclusive of agents, carrier executives and association staff.
• Provide thought leadership on engaging high school students into careers within insurance.
• Assist in the creation of volunteer opportunities for insurance industry college groups.
• Additional tasks commensurate based on experience.

Basic Qualifications

• Qualified candidates must be available to work 10 hours per week (weekly schedule TBD).
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Ability to create engaging social media graphics
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple projects and creative ideas in a fast-paced environment
• Prior volunteer leadership in a professional organization is not a requirement, but is a plus

Required Education

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Communications, Risk Management, Organizational Studies or equivalent.
• 3.2 GPA or higher
• Prior work experience is a plus
